The CEO of one of the fastest growing digital and print media businesses in the US didn’t understand why his operating team was developing custom solutions every time they won a contract. Because the business wasn’t scalable, in spite of high growth they could not drive their market presence beyond certain geographical regions. So this CEO turned to Forward Hindsight.

Solution
First we looked at consumer trends by markets and linked them back to an executable strategy. Our second step was to conduct a tailored strategic planning exercise that forced the client to rethink their competitive advantage. What were initially considered core competencies by our client turned out to be barriers to growth. Although this unsettled the leadership team it was quickly apparent they had no choice but to change. Or risk going out of business.

Forward Hindsight created a “baby steps” strategic plan and linked it to a robust operating plan. We partnered with the client to execute critical changes. Our engagement resulted in a standard delivery model that the client is using for their customer to drive much higher profitability numbers. A leading professional services firm wanted to create a unique value proposition for its clients in a market where services were considered commodity and therefore prices were very competitive. The services firm hired Forward Hindsight to create a “disruptive” business model to change the buyer’s mindset and consequently drive growth, market share and profitability.

Solution
Forward Hindsight suggested building a value chain map for the firm. Based on this map we were able to identify critical gaps that could be fixed and turned into market disruptors. The Forward Hindsight team helped commoditize pieces of the service delivery model and position it for an outsourcing potential. We also helped introduce innovative offerings that were very hard for competitors to replicate. When a multi-billion dollar consumer products company wanted to streamline their IT compliance program they turned to Forward Hindsight. The organization was dealing with a vast portfolio of technology and hundreds of controls that added very little value. The cost of compliance was rising every year while gaps and risks remained the same or got worse.

Solution
Forward Hindsight’s IT Compliance experts dove deep into the problem to find its real root cause. The client did not have a risk-based approach to weight controls and their validity. Once we had established a baseline we could assess the risk and related probability. Using this assessment combined with industry standards for areas like change management, IT security, disaster recovery etc. we reduced the number of key controls by 60%. This resulted in huge annual cost savings for both internal and external audits.
